Are the backrooms real? Top 19 answers that show backrooms real or fake

Nope, the Backrooms is an urban legend and meme from a story made by some user on 4chan about the Backrooms based on the phenomenon of so-called “liminal spaces.”

Are backrooms real creepypast?

No. No creepypastas are real. It’s all Fiction. Fiction means Fake. No matter how realistic it may seem, it’s all made by some random dude or a group of randos with too much time, and either has a lot or absolutely no talent with writing.

Do you want the intended answer or the unintended answer?

Backrooms, as in real-life backrooms, are rooms that almost every store and shop has. It’s used to store supplies, and it’s for staff only. So try to avoid breaking into the backrooms.

Backrooms, as in the creepypasta backrooms, are not real whatsoever. They say you get there by “no-clipping,” which is impossible. It may be in games, but real life is not a game. And I trust you won’t end up there anytime soon, or anytime for that matter.

What are the backrooms? Are they real or fake?

The backroom is a place that you go to when you noclip out of reality. It’s a place that has neverending hallways with the same yellow wallpaper walls, and the lights never go out. You also won’t ever sleep, drink, eat, or even die (I think), so suicide is not an option here. There is also a creature that lurks around the backrooms, and it’s said that what you will end up like for staying in the backrooms for too long.

Is it real?

No. It’s not. It’s a creepypasta, and like all creepypastas, it’s a work of fiction.

Edit: I decided to turn off comments (which I never do) since all you kids born in 2009 are so gullible.

My connection with backrooms

This backroom seems familiar to me because back in my childhood, before 2008, I used to go to the post office with my dad. The post office was huge, with lots of blue vaults. And the lights were bright. I never went there after 2008, even though I lived in the same place. But I still remember that place. I moved to a different country now, and now I can’t even go there if I want. This image is also maybe somehow like that, so it feels oddly similar.

My theory regarding backrooms

Most kids are scared about a big, empty area with bright lights. And they came across these places when they were children, and though they might’ve forgotten now, those memories remain in some part of the brain, which gets triggered seeing this pic.

Somewhat fake, somewhat real. Even though I’m not quite interested in creepypastas, which “The Backrooms” is a part of, there are reasons why I think that:

It’s fake:

-The overall no clipping to the Backrooms seems like a ridiculous way to get there. There has yet to be any proof of clipping being possible.

-The Backrooms, taking place outside the timeline itself, feels like a Sci-Fi movie.

-It began as a creepypasta in 4Chan. Creepypastas aren’t real (Not counting they’re possible based on true story counterparts), and 4Chan is a website that’s gotten huge controversies over its criminal users and so-called fake news.

It’s real:

-Located in a parallel universe. If anyone’s interested in this, search these up on the internet/YouTube.

-As with the case of DARPA, The SCP Foundation’s real-life kind-of counterpart, The Backrooms, might not exist, but who knows if a similar kind-of liminal place exists?! Maybe not outside of the timeline, but somewhere on Earth?!

So when I was 2, I was playing with my plastic ball. I was throwing the ball on the wall, and suddenly, it disappeared. (what I assumed was no-clipped out there) So I tried to chase the ball and ended up at level 0. Thankfully, the ball was right under my feet in level 0, and I picked it up and no-clipped the same way on the wall O_O (guys dont know, but I was sure this happened; it felt so freaking real, man. I swear to god, it was so real. I may have daydreamed, but when I searched on YouTube, I saw backrooms level 0 AGAIN. It was the same as that day. I asked my mom, and a few minutes later, she said I was missing for an hour or so. She thought I was playing the whole time, a total wtf moment.

I don’t know. I went to bed when I got a “dream,” a dream that felt like ages. I began at level 0, and it all felt so real. I saw different entities and also other people who lived on level 2. For me, it felt like hell. I went through many different levels and escaped a lot of entities like skin takers, skin givers, smilers, not water, and lots more. After almost dying several times, I found an exit; that’s when I lay in my bed again, but now, with still the sound out of the backrooms, it disappeared after a few weeks. Still, I don’t believe it was a dream; it was different. People don’t believe me, and that’s why I now do lots of research to prove that I’m not just making things up but that the backrooms are real.

Yes, I have encountered the backrooms. I was about 5 years old. I was staying at my grandmother’s house. I played in my bed to go to sleep. In my “dream,” I was walking around on level zero. I went up each level. There were scary monsters; you can imagine how scary that is for a five-year-old. There were skintakers and smilers, and I even encountered a kitty. So, as I continued, I was walking around and began to cry when I saw an exit sign. I walked through and immediately found myself in my bed with tears running down my face. At the time, I had no clue the backrooms existed, so seven years later, I drew a picture of everything I remembered from my dream and asked many people about it. They all had the same answer. “you were in the backrooms.”

Assuming you didn’t get super unlucky and accidentally no-clip into the Backrooms, but you were trying to get there in the first place.

It’s a good idea to bring supplies like food, water, clothing, a weapon (preferably a long sword or a silent throwing weapon), and medical supplies.

Food and water are essential for survival. Most people end up in Level 0, and it is difficult to come across food or water in that level, so already having rations will help you a ton. Food and water will stop you from turning into a Wretch and will help you restore your sanity. (Normal water does not prevent insanity; almond water does. It’s just that insanity sets in faster if you’re hungry or dehydrated.)

Spare clothing will help you stay clean and comfortable. There are very few places in the Backrooms where you can wash up and clean your clothes, so having a few extra pairs will keep you comfortable and help you retain your sanity.

A weapon will help you defend yourself against entities. You should avoid getting into a fight with an entity since you never know how strong it might be, but if you do eventually come across an entity, then having a weapon will help immensely. Silent weapons are the best since you won’t be drawing any extra attention to yourself while using them. Try bringing throwing knives since they are quiet, and you can kill entities at a distance. Remember only to use weapons when necessary. If you can sneak around the entity or have no reason to fight it, don’t waste your strength or weapon on attacking the entity.

While in the Backrooms, you will eventually get hurt, so having medical supplies will be very useful. Bandages, gauze, medication (prescriptions, pain killers, anti-nausea medicine, etc.), and extra rations will help you stay healthy and retain your sanity.

Are the backrooms real?

The concept of the “backrooms” is not based on a real or physical location. It originated as an internet meme and creepypasta—an online horror story or urban legend. The idea behind the backrooms is that they are a series of unsettling, maze-like, and windowless rooms that exist as a kind of alternate reality or dimension.

The backrooms gained popularity on social media platforms, particularly Reddit and 4chan, where users shared stories and images about this fictional and eerie environment. It became a form of internet folklore, and some users even created artwork, videos, or games inspired by the concept.

While the backrooms are fictional for entertainment and storytelling purposes, they do not exist in the real world. They are purely a product of internet culture and the imagination of those who contributed to the meme and related content. If you come across stories or images related to the backrooms, it’s important to recognize them as works of fiction rather than descriptions of an actual place.

Are the backrooms real?

The concept of the “backrooms” originated on the internet as a creepypasta, a term used to describe horror stories or urban legends circulated online. According to the backrooms mythos, the backrooms are a series of interconnected, unsettling rooms that exist as alternate reality or liminal space. It is often described as a maze-like network of yellowish, fluorescent-lit rooms with old, decaying wallpaper.

It’s important to understand that the backrooms are purely a work of fiction. They do not exist in reality as described in the CreepypastaCreepypasta. The concept gained popularity through online communities, and people have created various creative interpretations, stories, and immersive experiences based on the backroom theme. However, it remains a fictional concept and not a genuine phenomenon.

While the backrooms may have captured the imagination of some individuals and inspired creative works, it is crucial to distinguish between fictional stories and actual reality. The backrooms are simply a fictional concept and should not be mistaken for something that exists in the real world.

I’ve never been a huge fan, as it’s not my favorite concept when it comes to this sort of thing, though I do understand why people like it.

My basic understanding of how this is generally supposed to work is that if I, uh, “No clip” out of reality and wind up there, how far I get is more or less not a question as there is no end. It ultimately comes down to whether it lets me go, or I find a clever way to escape, but both depend on how we define it in this particular case. I mean, if there are monsters in there, which is debatable as some people like to have monsters and others don’t, chances are I’m likely dead because it’s not like I’m a fantasy hero, nor am I video game character like video games of this who can escape with video game logic type movement, and hope the AI gives up on chasing me after a bit.

Also, while some things get to me, it’s mostly what I call “weird stuff.” Your typical horror movie scenario would often wind up with me as the first victim despite how I look IRL because I’m the bozo who would take a shot at some supernatural serial killer thinking it’s just some clown with a knife being an asshole, and then get sliced to ribbons.

Are backrooms real? If so, can you go there intentionally?

They are quite real. Virtually every retail and wholesale store has one or more. This is where the extra stock and the office, bathrooms, and cleaning supplies are kept. Sometimes, there is a break room and places for employees to keep their stuff.

If you try to get back there, store staff will generally stop you. It’s considered a “hazard area for non-employees,” and stealing things and escaping out the back door is easy.

Why do people say that backrooms are not real when they are real?

They are not real.

It started as a piece of CreepypastaCreepypasta on 4chan in 2019. Somebody asked users to post disquieting images of “places that just feel off.” One reply was a large open yellow room. To this one, another user wrote a paragraph introducing the phrase “the Backrooms.”

They’re always doing this sort of thing on 4chan; when they’re not watching Star Trek or eating pizza, that is. In this case, it’s an internet aesthetic to do with liminal spaces, particularly empty ones.

It took off with the 4chan crowd, principally because they know everything about bloody Unix but not how to get girlfriends, and this sort of thing is an interesting distraction to them. Then it spread to other weirdos as well. Lots of fan fiction about the Backrooms appeared; scholars of modern literature have compared the Backrooms to Lovecraft’s R’lyeh. If you’ve read Lovecraft, you’ll know what that means: generally long-winded, sesquipedalian, and does not have much of a diverse plot and a slightly unsatisfactory conclusion. They then sprang into popular zygote culture through films and video games.

But the Backrooms don’t exist. They’re just the fevered products of a user on 4chan’s mind added to over time by more fevered minds who really ought to get out in the fresh air a bit more.

Ay-up! I live in Barnsley, me! Internet aesthetic? Liminal spaces? Lovecraft’s R’lyeh? And in 4chan, that’s what Countdown’s on? Good job for me. It’s Saturday evening, and all the neighbors are down the Whippetracer’s Arms. They’d be releasing the ninja ferrets at me if they knew!

I blame the EU. Ursula von der Liminalspaces.

Why do people say that backrooms are not real when they are real?

Regarding the blatant denial of anything real:

~Some people do not believe in anything they have not personally experienced

~Some people have been deceived and are confused about what they have witnessed

~Some people have been severely threatened to keep themselves quiet about the existence of certain things they know are real

~Some people have been bribed to deny the existence of certain things that they know are real

~Some people are directly involved in shady dealings and deny the reality of anything that might incriminate them

Thank you for asking my opinion.

Are there any particularly powerful entities in the backrooms?

Yes, there are several very powerful entities in the Backrooms. Most of these entities are level-specific or exist in enigmatic levels, so they’re hard to come across. Here are a few of these entities:

-Entity 20: The Thing on Level 7 (PRE-REWRITE). As it is right now, The Thing on Level 7 is a very powerful entity that resides on Level 7 (surprising, I know), an already dangerous level. The Thing on Level 7 is one of the very few immortal entities in the Backrooms, and this is due to its regenerative abilities. The Thing on Level 7 is also very intelligent to the point of being able to write, so it’s very difficult to escape or outsmart if you come across it. Keep in mind this is before the rewrite. After the entity is rewritten, it won’t be nearly as dangerous or powerful as it is now.

-Entity 30: M̶ơ̶͟t҉́h́͠ȩ͏͝ŗ͞. M̶ơ̶͟t҉́h́͠ȩ͏͝ŗ͞ in an incredibly dangerous entity that resides on Level 1.5. She has no appearance but is described as a “thickness in the air.” M̶ơ̶͟t҉́h́͠ȩ͏͝ŗ͞ tears the souls out of those unfortunate enough to enter Level 1.5 and turns them into empty husks whose only purpose is luring people into Level 1.5. There is no way to escape M̶ơ̶͟t҉́h́͠ȩ͏͝ŗ͞ besides death. If you don’t want to encounter her, don’t enter fake windows, as some take you to Level 1.5.

-Entity 33: The King. The King, also referred to as “The Animated King,” is an entity that resides on Level 94. He appears to be a stone statue that wields a sword and wears a crown, but he only stays this way for a short time. The King is only dangerous if you allow him to be. If you think of him as a powerful and intimidating monster, he will become that monster. But if you consider him a pathetic and weak insect, he will become a pathetic insect. He is whatever you think he is. He can’t hurt you if he isn’t allowed to.

-Entity 99: The Game Master. The Game Master is an entity that resides on Level 389. She looks like a black doll wearing a blue and yellow jester dress and hat. She possesses powerful telekinetic and reality-altering abilities and completely controls Level 389. The Game Master will have you pick a game, and you both will play. If you lose the game or get caught cheating, The Game Master will send you to Level DEATH. If you win, she will guide you to an elevator that takes the winner back to Level 0. The Game Master is known to cheat, changing the layout randomly throughout the game, and will move parts of the game around. For this reason, choosing games with more straightforward rules is recommended so it’s harder for her to cheat.

-Entity 140: Blanche. Finally, a friendly entity. Blanche is an entity that resides on Level 906. Blanche (initially) appears to be a short and pale woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, but her true appearance is unknown. She is passive and hospitable towards wanderers, but this doesn’t mean she can’t be dangerous. Blanche possesses telepathic and telekinetic abilities, able to read minds, teleport, and create and destroy objects with a mere thought. The true extent of her powers is unknown, but she is all-powerful on Level 906, having complete control and power over the level.

How do you go to the backrooms?

First off, you have to have an Earth-sized planet gravity well. Then, you create several billion similar structures, which creates several billion liminal spaces. Finally, what happens is the Backrooms: a naturally forming phenomenon like phospholipid bilayers where one layer is hydrophobic and the other is hydrophilic but with space, not chemistry.

The Backrooms echo the spaces here on Earth, so they’re spaces, not rooms. Those aren’t actual walls you see, but reflections of walls and florescent lighting, like what you see in that “infinite mirror” trick with two mirrors facing each other.

Once that is in place, you need intelligent minds. These things naturally influence quantum states of matter just by their presence. An intelligent mind collapses quantum waveform particles in unique ways.

TLDR: you have to find the right spot and move just right.

Einstein said of quantum mechanics that it’s “wood,” not “marble” – he never quite understood or fully conceptualized it. But it’s quite simple.

We exist in a simulation, a reflection of the real world where real people live.

We are the sounds you hear if you’re so unfortunate as to enter the backrooms.

We won’t harm you – we need you. We need to be seen to exist, so we need you here.

We need you here.

Do the backrooms have some humans alive?

Only two and one are about to be consumed by the Agripole, mean creatures. The other is a young girl of about seven years of age with a doll that speaks Latvian but with a Chinese accent; the doll also wears a beret, some green shoes, and lederhosen, but not much else. There is a shadow behind her, and I fear it is a large arachnid looking to pounce. The twelve others still alive are on the mezzanine floor waiting for Carrefour to open at purple bricks.

Have you gone to the backrooms? They are quite interesting. What was your experience?

Do you mean are people getting lap dances in the backroom, aka SEX? I can’t think of any other “backroom” I’ve never been in. So I guess I can’t say, only that I’ve never been there or done that. And that’s a first, folks, with this question, I am speechless. Later gators

How do you think the backrooms came to be?

  • Good insight can be found in Garry’s Mod. People create 3D levels for you to explore in the half-life 2 engine. Some levels are like “my dream”; there’s a lot of backroom-like stuff from different angles.
  • When front rooms became common in working-class houses, there became a need for a separate room for cooking, eating, and other everyday activities. This became known as the back room. As it was at the back of the front room

Why are backrooms haunted?

I assume you mean a room that is used sparingly. They stay in empty rooms, basements, and attics to avoid the annoying, living humans. That’s one reason “Go away” is a common statement in EVPs.

My theory is they are not.

Every backroom level and entity has existed ever since the Big Bang and is a force of nature that will never truly be figured out. This is why entities and levels are so naughty and unexplainable.

Now, remember, this is all theoretical, so I could just be wrong, and it’s a whole other thing

Backrooms don’t exist. They’re just a new sci-fi idea that’s cheap for wannabe filmmakers to use. They are no more haunted than any other movie set.

Is there a real way to escape to the backrooms in real life? If so, how?

There is. It’s called The Way Out. Search it up on YouTube. you need dream luck to enter it, but there are so many levels that you are guaranteed to come across it

it looks like this

After a while, reality fixes itself, and you will return to reality.

What is Level 0 of the Backrooms?

Level 0 of the Backrooms is a relatively safe, empty retail outlet room. It is Class 1, which means it is mostly safe but has some danger. If you no-clip out of reality, you usually end up here. The carpet below you will be disgustingly moist but have moss you can eat. There will be yellow walls and barely anyone to see for miles. Rooms with red lights and wallpaper can be seen, but you should avoid them at all costs. You can exit by no-clipping to get to Level 1 or no-clipping through a painting you brought with you to get to Level 57. Don’t no clip through the ceiling, though, as it leads to a trap created by dangerous entities.

What are the backroom creatures?

The backroom is an interesting place where they have raised many questions, especially since they are located; if you want or, unfortunately, need to “get out of reality” to enter the back room, suggesting that the bedroom There is an existence in different dimensions. It’s a void though. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the nature of voids and why we take photographs of the organisms that live in them (as in the definition of zero by all things being empty).

What if all the creatures in the backyard are connected to the frightening imagination of previous humans trapped in the backyard? Why? Have you ever heard the phrase, “Stare at the abyss, and it stares back at you.” What if it means that nothing exists in the void, but the fact that we think that something brings it to life? It can explain the vast diversity of giant creatures … The question is, are those people who brought these creatures to life with their fear and despair? Or these beings are taken from the void, taken on their own lives, and no longer need humans to believe it…

If my theory is correct in any shape or form, I strongly urge anyone currently trapped, abetted, or trapped in the backroom. We cannot disappear all of them by remaining calm, but we can help reduce their rate.

These are figments of the mind taking base from the horror stories heard in childhood and repeatedly strengthened by the darkness. For the curious, these backrooms are an interesting place that has intrigued and raised many questions about their location. One school of thought suggests the Backrooms exist in a separate dimension, possibly in a void – or a phantom zone. The human mind cannot stare into a space with nothing; hence, this intense thinking leads to the depiction of grotesque alien creatures living in them. This leads to dramatic events in the mind, and combining an already terrified mind, imagination runs riot, breaking the thin line between sanity and insanity.
